The City of Panama City has declared a local state of emergency as officials prepare for possible effects from Tropical Storm Isaias.
The declaration allows the city to coordinate emergency operations, use necessary personnel and resources, seek state and federal assistance, and pursue reimbursement for eligible preparation, protective and response expenses.
The executive order remains in effect for 72 hours unless the Panama City Commission ends it earlier or extends it.
The declaration does not, by itself, order an evacuation or impose a curfew. It gives city officials the authority to take additional emergency actions—including issuing evacuation orders or establishing curfews—if changing conditions make them necessary.
Residents should continue monitoring official information and be prepared to follow instructions from local emergency-management officials.
