News from Florida’s Second Congressional District

This past week, the House passed the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, and the State and Foreign Operations Appropriations Act, according to Dr. Neal Dunn, Representative for Florida’s Second District. Unfortunately, these bills were not enough to keep the government open.

On Saturday, the House passed a continuing appropriations bill that funds the government for another 45 days. The Senate also passed the bill and avoided a shutdown.

Rep. Dunn chose to support the military, contractors, and families already dealing with high inflation due to Biden administration economic policies. While a continuing resolution was not the solution he had hoped for, it does include disaster funding critical for Florida’s Second Congressional District.

This bill includes $16 billion in funding for disaster relief and an extension of the National Flood Insurance Program. It does not include pay raises for Members of Congress or additional funding for Ukraine. Rep. Dunn stated he will work with House Republicans towards fully funding the government in the next 45 days.
