Panama City Commission Rejects Sonnenblick Marina Redevelopment Proposal

On Tuesday, February 27, the Panama City Commission unanimously voted to reject the Sonnenblick proposal for Marina Redevelopment. Attorney Nevin Zimmerman spoke on a number of issues which can be found below. All of the city commissioners made statements on why they felt the proposal was lacking. Mayor Brudnicki made a statement as well, which can be found below. Mayor Brudnicki’s statement encompassed numerous failures to submit materials, and the developer’s attempt to change guidelines set by the city.

While the Sonnenblick Marina Project is dead in the water, Assistant City Manager Jared Jones noted there were many positives that came out of this process. The board plans to move forward with exploring individual feasibility studies for some of the community supported upgrades including docks, a green space, restaurants, an amphitheater, and Civic Center upgrades.
