Bay District Schools monitoring Hurricane Dorian

Panama City, Florida – The following was released by Bay District Schools this morning at 9am on the status of Bay District Schools as pertaining to Hurricane Dorian.

Statement for Bay District Schools:

“IMPORTANT UPDATE: We are as anxious about this storm as you are and we’re watching it closely and are working with our partners at the Bay County EOC. We have total confidence in their ability to guide us and we’re in frequent contact with them. At this time, we simply don’t have enough information about the storm’s eventual track to make a decision about closing school on Tuesday. We hope that information will become more clear tomorrow and, of course, any decisions we might make will be impacted further if the County decides to open shelters. If shelters are opened, we are ready and have been planning closely with the County for that possibility. We know all of this uncertainty adds fuel to the angst we are already feeling and we wish the experts were more certain in the storm’s eventual track. Please stay tuned to the Bay County, Florida Emergency Services page for regular updates and we will continue to share them on our pages.”
