Gulf County High School Students to Explore Career and Education Opportunities at Job Fair & Career Expos

Port St. Joe, FL – High school students in Gulf County will have the opportunity to learn about career opportunities, educational paths, and more at upcoming Job Fair & Career Expos at Port St. Joe High School and Wewahitchka High School.

The events are open to students at Port St. Joe High School on Tuesday, March 12, and Wewahitchka High School, on Thursday, March 14. Both events will be from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The free events are designed to connect students with local employers, educational institutions, internships, volunteer opportunities, and community resources. The events are coordinated by high school students through The Able Trust Florida High School High Tech program, administered in Gulf County by CareerSource Gulf Coast.

Gulf District School Superintendent, Jim Norton, noted the collaboration across the county to support area youth. “Seeing local businesses, organizations, and educators come together to invest in the future of Gulf County is a testament to the power of community,” said Norton. “This is the ideal setting to connect students to career paths where they will flourish.”

“This is an amazing opportunity for Gulf County students to unlock their potential with career and educational opportunities,” said Lianna Sagins, Director of Workforce Services for Gulf and Franklin Counties at CareerSource Gulf Coast. “We hope these events will empower students to make informed decisions about their futures, as they explore opportunities right here in the region.”

Sagins continued: “It’s inspiring to see The Able Trust High School High Tech students take the lead in coordinating these events. They are developing the soft skills that will benefit them along their career journeys.”

Eligible students nearing graduation may also apply for paid summer internships at the annual CareerSource Gulf Coast Summer Program, a free program serving kids aged four to 12 in Gulf County.
