Road Work Ahead! Bay and Jackson County Traffic Updates

Chipley, FL – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Bay and Jackson counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities:

Bay County:

  • State Road (S.R.) 390 Widening from Jenks Avenue to S.R. 77 – S.R. 390 eastbound and westbound traffic will be shifted from the inside lane to the outside lane starting Tuesday, Nov. 28. The lane shift will begin at 8:30 p.m. and conclude by 6 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29.
  • U.S. 98 Widening West of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to East of Louisiana Avenue – U.S. 98 drivers may encounter day and nighttime intermittent east or westbound lane closures between Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue and Louisiana Avenue through Friday, Dec. 15.
  • Hutchison Boulevard (Middle Beach Road) Resurfacing from U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) to U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road)  Drivers will encounter daytime intermittent lane closures beginning 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27 through Saturday, Dec. 2 between Alf Colemon Road and the intersection of Hutchison Boulevard and Front Beach Road at the east end of the project as crews perform sidewalk and drainage construction activities. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.

Jackson County:

  • U.S. 90 Intersection Improvement at S.R. 73 Intersection – Drivers will encounter nighttime intermittent lane closures beginning 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27 through Saturday, Dec. 2, near the intersection of U.S. 90 and S.R. 73 as crews perform striping activities. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
  • U.S. 90 Resurfacing from Chipola River Bridge to East of S.R. 71 South – Motorists will encounter intermittent daytime westbound lane closures Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for construction activities.

All activities are weather-dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the reduced speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone. Speeding fines double when workers are present.
