Since the federal disaster declaration for Hurricane Michael, Holmes County residents have received more than $1.79 million in total federal funds:

  • More than $445,500 in federal grants have gone to almost 219 homeowners and renters.

 

  • More than $1.34 million in U.S. Small Business Administration low-interest disaster loans have been approved for 52 homeowners and renters and three businesses.

 

Housing Assistance:

  • More than $257,590 has been approved for basic housing repairs for 119 homeowners.

 

  • More than 750 home inspections have been issued and more than 99.86 percent completed.

 

  • Through Disaster Survivor Assistance outreach more than 1,650 survivors were connected with other recovery partners for needs beyond what FEMA can assist with.

 

  • 74 homeowners and renters approved for rental assistance.

 

  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has installed 18 blue roofs in Holmes County representing 18 families who can live in their homes while they make permanent repairs.

 

Debris Removal:

  • Approximately 45,502 cubic yards of debris has been removed in Holmes County.

 

Outreach to Survivors:

  • The disaster recovery center at the Holmes County Agricultural Center opened on Oct. 23 and closed on Dec. 5 after assisting more than 722 visitors.
