NWS update: October 8, 2026, at 1:38 a.m. CDT
The National Weather Service in Tallahassee has issued a Flood Watch for inland and coastal Bay County, effective Friday afternoon, October 9, through Saturday evening, October 10.
The watch also covers other portions of the Florida Panhandle and Big Bend, southeast Alabama and southwest Georgia.
Heavy Rain and Flooding Possible
Hurricane Isaias is expected to bring bands of heavy rainfall, with widespread totals of 3–7 inches and localized amounts up to 10 inches across the watch area.
NWS says soils are already saturated from recent rainfall, increasing the risk of flash flooding. Considerable flash flooding is possible where heavy rain repeatedly moves over the same locations.
Rivers, creeks, low-lying areas, streets and locations with poor drainage could flood.
A Flood Watch means flooding is possible. Residents in flood-prone areas should prepare to take action and monitor forecasts for possible Flood Warnings.
Dangerous Rip Currents Continue
In a separate statement issued at 1:51 a.m. CDT Thursday, NWS continued the high rip-current risk through late Sunday night, October 11, for Walton, Bay, Gulf and Franklin County beaches.
Rip currents can pull even strong swimmers away from shore.
Residents should continue following official weather alerts and local emergency management instructions.
