On this week’s episode of Commodore Cares, WKGC spotlighted two Bay County organizations that embody the spirit of service along the Emerald Coast.

From a seaside church feeding families in need to a long-standing Christian care center helping thousands each year, both groups remind us that compassion isn’t just an act — it’s a lifestyle. Together, they’re tackling hunger and restoring hope, one meal and one neighbor at a time.

⛪ The Church at the Beach – Panama City Beach, FL

Led by Dr. Jay Powell, Senior Pastor since 2021, The Church at the Beach (TCATB) has become a vital support hub for the Panama City Beach community and beyond.

Weekly Outreach & Pantry Services

• 🍽️ Free Community Meal: Mondays at 4 PM

• 🥫 Food Pantry: Tuesday – Thursday, 9:00 – 11:15 AM (Bring photo ID; short intake required.)

• 🥪 Brown Bag Lunch: Wednesdays at 11 AM

The church’s pantry provides groceries and shelf-stable goods to any individual or family in need, serving both Panama City Beach and greater Bay County.

Donations & Support

TCATB accepts donations of non-perishable foods, hygiene items, and monetary gifts via its website or app.
Because freezer space is limited, shelf-stable goods are especially appreciated.

🛒 St. Andrew Christian Care Center – Panama City, FL

For 28 years, St. Andrew Christian Care Center (SACCC) has served as a beacon of hope in St. Andrews.
Under the leadership of Director Windell Holly along with Nancy Skates, who manages the center’s Boutique, this volunteer-powered nonprofit distributes food, clothing, and household items to those in need.

Services & Schedule

• 🕗 Pantry Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 – 11:30 AM

• 🌙 Evening Hours: Thursdays, 5:30 – 7:30 PM

• 👶 Pregnancy Clinic: Mondays & Wednesdays, 9 AM – 12 PM

• 💼 Boutique: Offers clothing, linens, shoes, small appliances, and accessibility items

Each day, about 25 volunteers keep operations running smoothly — sorting donations, packing food boxes, and welcoming neighbors with care.
