Navigating Road Work in Bay and Jackson Counties

FDOT Traffic Advisory for Bay and Jackson Counties

Chipley, FL– Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Bay and Jackson counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.

Bay County:

·         U.S. 98 Widening West of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to East of Louisiana Avenue – U.S. 98 drivers may encounter day and nighttime intermittent east and westbound lane closures, between Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue and Louisiana Avenue, through Friday, March 1.

·         U.S. 98 Widening Mandy Lane to East of Nautilus Street – U.S. 98 east and westbound drivers, between Pier Park Drive and Gulf Boulevard, will encounter alternating lane closures through Saturday, March 2 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Construction crews will be preparing for drainage installation. In addition, drainage work is also planned for North Gulf Boulevard.

·         State Road (S.R.) 392A (Hutchison Boulevard) from U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) to U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) – Drivers will encounter daytime intermittent lane closures through Saturday, March 2 between Richard Jackson Boulevard and Clara Avenue as crews perform sidewalk and drainage construction activities. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.

·         U.S. 98 Widening East of Nautilus Street to East of Richard Jackson Boulevard – U.S. 98 westbound drivers, between Alf Coleman Road and Clara Avenue, will encounter intermittent lane closures through 6 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28. Construction crews will be striping new lanes along this section.

·         U.S. 98 (Panama City Beach Parkway) Resurfacing from Walton County Line to Heather Drive – Drivers will encounter nighttime intermittent lane closures through Friday, March 1. Nighttime crews will continue working on earthwork excavation, and embankment backfill for shared-use path and sidewalk construction, drainage installation, paving turn lanes/side streets and sidewalk concrete placement between Camp Helen State Park to Heather Drive.

Jackson County:

• U.S. 90 Resurfacing from Chipola River Bridge to East of S.R. 71 South – Motorists will encounter intermittent daytime westbound lane closures through Friday, March 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for construction activities.

All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the reduced speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone. Speeding fines double when workers are present.
