“Reefs in the Real World”

Panama City, FL The Citizen Science Seminar Series is pleased to announce its upcoming seminar on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 6:00 pm (CST) in GCSC’s Language & Literature Building, Sarzin Lecture Hall.

The seminar welcomes Mr. Scott Jackson, UF/IFAS Extension Bay County Director, Florida Sea Grant Extension Agent and Regional Specialized Agent for Artificial Reefs and Fisheries; and Mrs. Chantille Weber, Coastal Resources Coordinator of Bay County, FL.

Chantille and Scott will be presenting on “Reefs in the Real World” to discuss the successes and challenges of artificial reef site development. This presentation will cover the types of materials used to meet long-term economic goals for fisheries management and stock enhancement; the roles of stakeholders when establishing new permitted areas and the development of patch reef sites; hurricane and tropical storm impacts on established reef systems and more.
