Bay and Jackson County Drivers Beware

Chipley, Fla. – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Bay and Jackson counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.

Bay County:

·         U.S. 98 Widening West of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to East of Louisiana Avenue – U.S. 98 drivers may encounter day and nighttime intermittent east or westbound lane closures, between Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue and Louisiana Avenue, through Sunday, Dec. 17.

·         Hutchison Boulevard (Middle Beach Road) Resurfacing from U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) to U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) – Drivers will encounter daytime intermittent lane closures  through Saturday, Dec. 9 between Alf Coleman Road and the intersection of Hutchison Boulevard and Front Beach Road at the east end of the project as crews perform sidewalk and drainage construction activities. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.

·         State Road (S.R.) 79 Resurfacing from U.S. 98 to the B.V. Buchanan (West Bay) Bridge – Drivers on S.R. 79 north and southbound will encounter alternating lane closures through Saturday, Dec. 16 from the U.S. 98 intersection to the B.V. Buchanan (West Bay) Bridge. The lane closures will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily as crews perform final paving and pavement striping work. At least one travel lane in each direction will remain open at all times.

Jackson County:

·         U.S. 90 Resurfacing from West of U.S. 231 to West of CSX Overpass – Drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4 through Friday, Dec. 8 for sidewalk improvement activities. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.

·         U.S. 90 Intersection Improvement at S.R. 73 Intersection – Drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures beginning 7:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4 through Saturday, Dec. 9 near the intersection of U.S. 90 and S.R. 73 as crews perform striping activities for a temporary detour. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.

·         U.S. 90 Resurfacing from Chipola River Bridge to East of S.R. 71 South – Motorists will encounter intermittent daytime westbound lane closures Monday, Dec. 4 through Friday, Dec. 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for construction activities.

·         U.S. 90 Routine Bridge Maintenance over the Apalachicola Relief – Motorists will encounter intermittent daytime lane closures east of the Jackson County line Wednesday, Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for routine bridge maintenance.

All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the reduced speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone. Speeding fines double when workers are present.
