Bay and Jackson County Drivers Beware: Traffic Disruptions Ahead

Chipley, Fla. – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Bay and Jackson counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.

Bay County:

·         State Road (S.R.) 390 Widening from Jenks Avenue to S.R. 77 – Intermittent nighttime side street lane closures will occur between S.R. 77 (Ohio Avenue) and Jenks Avenue Monday, Oct. 30 through Thursday, Nov. 16 from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. Construction crews will be paving side streets throughout the project.

·         U.S. 98 Widening West of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to East of Louisiana Avenue – U.S. 98 drivers may encounter day and nighttime intermittent east or westbound lane closures, between Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue and Louisiana Avenue, through Wednesday, Nov. 15.

·         S.R. 388 from S.R. 79 to East of Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport – S.R. 388 drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, Oct. 30 through Friday, Nov. 3 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. for striping work. Traffic at the S.R. 79/Margaritaville Watersound intersection will be affected. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.

·         Hutchison Boulevard (Middle Beach Road) Resurfacing from U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) to U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) – Drivers will encounter daytime intermittent lane closures beginning 8 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30 through Saturday, Nov. 4 between Alf Colemon Road and the intersection of Hutchison Boulevard and Front Beach Road at the east end of the project as crews perform sidewalk and drainage construction activities. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.

·         U.S. 98 (Panama City Beach Parkway) Resurfacing from Walton County Line to Heather Drive – Motorists will encounter nighttime lane closures Monday, Oct. 30 and Thursday, Nov. 3 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for concrete operations.

·         S.R 79 Resurfacing from U.S. 98 to the B.V. Buchanan (West Bay) Bridge – Drivers will encounter intermittent and alternating north and southbound lane closures north of the U.S. 98 intersection Monday, Oct. 30 through Thursday, Nov. 2 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Construction crews will be applying the final layer of asphalt for the newly resurfaced roadway.

Jackson County:

·         S.R. 166 (Jefferson Street) Lane Closure form U.S. 90 to Market Street – The City of Marianna will be closing the southbound lane between U.S. 90 and Market Street Monday, Oct. 30 through Tuesday, Nov. 7. The closure is for demolition of the Pelt Building located along Jefferson Street.

·         U.S. 90 Resurfacing from Chipola River Bridge to East of S.R. 71 South – Motorists will encounter intermittent daytime westbound lane closures Monday, Oct. 30 through Friday, Nov. 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for construction activities.

All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the reduced speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone. Speeding fines double when workers are present.
