FDOT Traffic Advisory for Bay and Jackson Counties

Chipley, Fla. – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Bay and Jackson counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities:

Bay County:

·         U.S. 98 Widening West of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to East of Louisiana Avenue – U.S. 98 drivers may encounter day and nighttime intermittent east or westbound lane closures between Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue and Louisiana Avenue, through November 15.

·         State Road (S.R.) 388 from S.R. 79 to East of Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport – S.R. 388 drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, Oct. 23 through Friday, Oct. 27 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. for striping work. Traffic at the S.R. 79/Margaritaville Watersound intersection will be affected. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.

·         Hutchison Boulevard (Middle Beach Road) Resurfacing from U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) to U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) – Drivers will encounter daytime intermittent lane closures beginning 8 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23 and Tuesday, Oct. 24 between Alf Coleman Road and the intersection of Hutchison Boulevard and Front Beach Road at the east end of the project as crews perform sidewalk and drainage construction activities. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.

·         Westbound Hathaway Bridge Overnight Closure – The westbound span of the Hathaway Bridge (U.S. 98) will be closed to all traffic from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24 as workers perform internal maintenance on the bridge. Eastbound U.S. 98 traffic will not be affected. Drivers will be detoured to S.R. 388 during the closure. Variable message boards are in place to alert drivers to the alternate route.

Jackson County:

·         S.R. 166 (Jefferson Street) Lane Closure from U.S. 90 to Market Street – The City of Marianna will be closing the southbound lane between U.S. 90 and Market Street Monday, Oct. 23 through Tuesday, Nov. 7. The closure is for demolition of the Pelt Building located along Jefferson Street.

·         U.S. 90 Resurfacing from Chipola River Bridge to East of S.R. 71 South – Motorists will encounter intermittent daytime westbound lane closures Monday, Oct. 23 through Friday, Oct. 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for construction activities.

All planned construction activities are weather-dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the reduced speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone. Speeding fines double when workers are present.
