U.S. 90 Resurfacing Starting in Jackson County

Chipley, Fla.The Florida Department of Transportation will begin work in October to resurface U.S. 90 from west of U.S. 231 to west of the CSX Overpass in Jackson County.

Improvements along the seven-mile project include:

  • Resurfacing existing travel lanes, auxiliary lanes, and paved shoulders.
  • Constructing a new eastbound U-turn lane for improved Cottondale Elementary School pick-up/drop-off operations.
  • Adding sidewalks along the south side of U.S. 90 from Willow Street to Pontiac Loop.
  • Upgrading existing sidewalks to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
  • Improving drainage throughout the project.

No lane closures will occur at the following times:

U.S. 90

  • 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday during active school sessions.
  • During special events at Cottondale High School and Cottondale Elementary School.

U.S. 231

  • 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Work is scheduled to be completed summer 2024. Construction activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
