Ready, Set, Blast Off! Oscar Patterson Elementary Welcomes Bay County Students with a Back-to-School Extravaganza

Bay County Schools eagerly await the return of children next Thursday, and Oscar Patterson Elementary is all set to kick off the new school year with a fun-filled event this weekend.

Named the “Back-to-School Blast Off,” this exciting event is happening on Saturday and has received tremendous support from the Bay County branch of the NAACP. Since adopting Patterson in 2010, the NAACP has been actively involved in providing supplies, mentors, and tutors to support the students.

Rufus Wood, Jr., President of the Bay County branch of the NAACP, expressed their dedication to eliminating educational disparities in the county and ensuring every student receives a higher quality education.

After having to close for a few years due to damage from Hurricane Michael, Patterson reopened last year and is now ready to warmly welcome back Bay County students at this vibrant event. Expect music, games, food, a bouncy house, slide, face painting, book giveaways, and even backpacks for the Patterson students.

This Back-to-School Blast Off runs from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday and is open to all Bay County children, with a special treat for Patterson students. Best of all, the event is free for everyone to enjoy. Don’t miss this fantastic celebration as the community comes together to support education and embrace a new academic year.
