GCSC Foundation Receives Grant to Provide Scholarships to Gulf Coast State College

Panama City, FL – The Gulf Coast State College Foundation is excited to announce that it has received a
grant totaling $90,000 provided by the Edward K. Roberts Community College Fund of the Community
Foundation of Sarasota County. The grant will be used to fund scholarships for the 2023 summer and fall
semesters, and the 2024 spring semester through the College’s TRiO program. This provides financial
assistance to low-income students in post-secondary degree programs or industry-recognized certificate
programs. Individual students may receive up to a maximum of $2,500 during this grant period.

“In recent years the Community Foundation of Sarasota County has offered perennial support to the
GCSC Foundation’s desire to provide scholarships to first generation students who wish to attend Gulf
Coast State College”, said Dr. Sean Preston, Executive Director of the GCSC Foundation. “We are
honored to receive a recent donation of $90,000 that will immediately be directed to the students who
need it most.”

The Edward K. Roberts Fund enhances the possibilities for both children and their parents to break the
cycle of poverty through education. They have been making a connection between individual’s
memories, passions and dreams since 1979.

A check presentation for the grant will be held during the District Board of Trustees meeting on
Thursday, July 27, 2023 in the William C. Cramer, Jr. Seminar Room.
