The Mix

Kat Kan from the Northwest Regional Library System joined The Mix to talk about upcoming events happening at the Library. A big event happening this weekend is Free Comic Book Day. Kat says that this year is the 20th Anniversary! We talked about Virtual programming, and a live event happening at the end of this month. 

Free Comic Book Day 

Starting this Saturday, August 14th from 9 am until 5 pm the Bay County Public Library will be providing grab and go bag of comics. They will be available as supplies last. There will be prepared bags for three age levels: Children, teens, Older Teens, and adults.

There will also be “Make Your Own Comic Book Kits” to take home with a blank comic book, ruler, pencil, speech bubble templates, and a how-to begin guide with suggested titles.

Virtual Programming

Other events include virtual programming like the Recycle Book Club where Rachael will teach you how to make crafts from Recycled Books (www.youtube.com/RecycledBookClub.) The Upcycle Origami is hosted by Kat herself and she shows viewers how to create origami pieces out of any type of paper (www.youtube.com/UpcycledOrigami.)

Live Programming

There will be an event happening on August 25th from 10:30 am until 2:30 pm to help provide FREE disaster legal help from Hurricane Michael. You can join Legal Services of North Florida to help with:

  • Title Clearing
  • Probate
  • Contractor Disputes/Liens
  • Insurance Coverage Disputes
  • Denial of Repair Assistance
  • FEMA Assistance and more!
What to Expect:
  • Walk-ins are welcome!
  • Assistance is provided on a first-come, first-served basis and is based on lawyer availability.
  • Please bring documentation & paperwork related to your legal question.
  • The location of the clinic is the Bay County Public Library Meeting Room.
