Gov. DeSantis Updates Florida COVID-19 Response on Saturday

Tallahassee, Florida – Governor Ron DeSantis provides updates on COVID-19 from the State Capitol on Saturday, March 28th, 2020.

A State of Florida Public Health Advisory was issued for COVID-19, directed at those older than 65 in Florida. Governor DeSantis stated that a text message would be sent out using the State of Florida EAS system reiterating the Florida Surgeon General’s public health advisory that people who are age 65 or older, or people with a serious underlying medical condition, to stay at home.

Almost an hour hour after that statement, smartphones all over Florida received the emergency alert: “FL Surgeon Gen: Stay home if 65+ or have medical conditions. All follow social distancing.”
