Since the federal disaster declaration for Hurricane Michael, Gulf County residents have received more than $111 million in total federal funds:

  • 1,766 individuals and households have been approved for more than $10.1 million in federal grants.

 

  • 955 flood insurance claims have been filed. An estimated $55.3 million in claims have been paid. (As of Dec. 14)

 

  •  More than $45.6 million in U.S. Small Business Administration low-interest disaster loans have been approved for 695 homeowners and renters and 64 businesses.

 

Housing Assistance:

  •  More than $6 million has been approved for basic housing repairs for more than 890 homeowners.

 

  •  4,188 home inspections have been issued and more than 99.5 percent completed.

 

  • Approximately 820 survivors have not provided FEMA with the necessary information from their insurance settlements to complete their disaster assistance registration.

 

  • Through Disaster Survivor Assistance outreach more than 5,400 survivors were connected with disaster resources and recovery partners for needs beyond what FEMA can assist with.

 

  •  1,149 homeowners and renters have been approved for rental assistance.

 

  •  16 survivor households are checked into hotels through the Transitional Sheltering Assistance.

 

  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has installed 704 blue roofs in Gulf representing 704 families who can live in their homes while they make permanent repairs.

 

  •  17 (As of Jan. 7) households are licensed-in in Gulf County under FEMA’s Direct Temporary Housing Assistance program. These households have keys to temporary housing units and the units are ready for occupancy. Working with Florida Division of Emergency Management, Gulf County and Volunteer Florida, debris is being cleared from private and commercial sites.

 

Debris removal:

  •  Nearly 1.2 million cubic yards of debris has been removed in Gulf County.

 

Outreach to Survivors:

  •  The disaster recovery center in Port Saint Joe opened Oct. 26 and has assisted 3,224 visitors. The Wewahitchka DRC opened Oct. 30 and has assisted 1,950 visitors.
