Since the federal disaster declaration for Hurricane Michael, Calhoun County residents have received more than $30.7 million in total federal funds:

  • More than $8.4 million in federal grants have gone to 1,686 homeowners and renters.

 

  • Two flood insurance claims have been filed. An estimated $33,852 in claims have been paid. (As of Dec. 14)

 

  • More than $22.2 million in U.S. Small Business Administration low-interest disaster loans have been approved for 496 homeowners and renters and 23 businesses.

 

Housing Assistance:

  • More than $4.6 million in grants have been approved for basic housing repairs for 1,028 homeowners.

 

  • 3,576 home inspections have been issued with more than 99.8 percent completed.

 

  • Approximately 740 survivors have not provided FEMA with the necessary information from their insurance settlements to complete their disaster assistance registration.

 

  • Through Disaster Survivor Assistance outreach more than 6,100 survivors were connected with disaster resources and recovery partners for needs beyond what FEMA can assist with.

 

  • 978 homeowners and renters approved for rental assistance.

 

  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers installed 481 blue roofs in Calhoun County, representing 481 families who can live in their homes while they make permanent repairs.

 

  • 17 (As of Jan.7) households have been licensed-in in Calhoun County under FEMA’s Direct Temporary Housing Assistance program. These households have keys to temporary housing units and the units are ready for occupancy. Working with Florida Division of Emergency Management, Calhoun County and Volunteer Florida, debris is being cleared from private and commercial sites.

 

Debris removal:

  • Nearly 1.2 million cubic yards of debris has been removed in Calhoun County.

 

Outreach to Survivors:

  • The disaster recovery center at Blountstown Public Library opened Oct. 26 and has assisted more than 3,100 visitors.
