Event Date: March 29-April 21
Event Time:
Location: Amelia Center Main Gallery, Room 112, Gulf Coast State College, Panama City, FL.

The Visual & Performing Arts Division of Gulf Coast State College will present “Trans(in)Form*a*tion,” an exhibition of mixed-media art by Amanda Small, Projects Coordinator at the International Ceramic Research Center in Skaelskor, Denmark.

With an interest in home and place and an emphasis on movement, Small explores the relationship between physical space and intangible experience. Her installations use mundane materials and ambiguous imagery based on the natural world to contemplate the meaning of home and place, echoed by her travels to Central America, Venezuela, Greece, East Africa, India and Scandinavia.

Small has been a visiting artist at Australia National University in Canberra, Australia, and Unitec University in Auckland, New Zealand, and was recently awarded a North Carolina Arts Council Fellowship. She will present a lecture about her work on Friday, March 29, from 1 – 2 p.m. at GCSC in the Amelia Tapper Center, Room 128. The exhibit’s opening and a reception from 5 – 7 p.m. will follow. Both events and the exhibit are free and open to the public.

The exhibit runs March 29 through April 21 in the Amelia Center Main Gallery, Room 112. Regular gallery hours are Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. For more information, please contact Pavel Amromin at pamromin@gulfcoast.edu or call (850) 769-3886.
