TAKING A BITE OUT OF HUNGER: PEANUT BUTTER CHALLENGE
Event Date: Through November 15
Location: Bay County Government Center, located at 840 W. 11th St. and at the UF/IFAS Extension Office at 225 McKenzie Ave., Panama City.
The UF/IFAS Extension Bay County is collecting jars of unopened peanut butter through Nov. 15 to aid Bay County’s hungry during the 2013 “Take a Bite out of Hunger” peanut butter challenge.
The items collect will be donated to a local food bank during Farm-City Week, which celebrates the connection between farmers and ranchers and all those who work with them to make food available to our populace.
“The average child will eat 1,500 peanut butter sandwiches before graduating high school,” said Bay County Extension horticulturalist Julie McConnell. “This program will help make sure our local children get enough to eat this fall while also honoring our farmers.”
Donations may be dropped off at the Bay County Government Center, located at 840 W. 11th St. and at the UF/IFAS Extension Office at 225 McKenzie Ave., Panama City.
