Kaleidoscope Theatre, located in Lynn Haven, presents the drama, RED, as the second production of its new Shadow Season.
Winner of the 2010 Tony Award for Best Play, John Logan's phenomenally successful Broadway play opens November 15th for two weekends. It explores the story of master abstract artist, Mark Rothko (played by Doug Gilliland) who has just landed the biggest commission in the history of modern art - a series of murals for New York City's famed Four Seasons Restaurant. As Rothko spends two years feverishly working on his masterpiece with his young assistant, Ken, (played by Samuel Lourcey) he realizes that Ken has gained the confidence to challenge him. Rothko then faces the possibility that his crowning achievement could also become his undoing.
RED is a searing portrait of an artist's ambition and vulnerability as he tries to create a definitive work of art for an extraordinary setting.
Directed by Charlie Wilson the production runs on November 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24 with Friday and Saturday night performances at 7:30 pm, and Sunday matinees beginning at 2 pm.
