Bay County – You can just say no to diabetes! The Florida Department of Health in Bay County is offering the National Diabetes Prevention Program, an evidence-based lifestyle change program that is designed to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes by 58 percent in those at high risk of developing the disease. Participants receive tools and support to make and sustain lifestyle changes. The program is FREE to participants. Classes are forming now.

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Overweight
• At high risk for developing diabetes.

Approximately 59,000 Bay County residents have prediabetes, which puts them at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Most of them don’t even know it. Could you be one of them? You can determine your risk by:

1. Having a diagnostic blood test to measure your blood sugar by a healthcare professional, or

2. Taking a risk assessment quiz like the one on the CDC web site: www.cdc.gov/diabetes/prevention.
